Figure(s): | Fig1, Fig3 and Fig4 |
Annotation description: | Fig1: Septin 11 migrates with the "type II" PSD fraction in cellular fractionation experiments that is also positive for gephyrin, but negative for PSD-95, suggesting these are GABAergic PSDs. This is verified by confocal microscopy in Fig3, where colocalization of septin 11 with GAD terminals is observed (54±4%), more then with vGlut1 synapses (25±2%; numbers from text p17257). Similar numbers are found in cerebellum (Fig3O-S). This is further verified by 2 methods of immunoEM (pre- and post-embedding; Fig4) in the cerebellum where Septin 11 is found in the dendrite an spine neck of synapses (Fig4A-G and 4J-K), and in the spine and PSD-area of some type II symmetric synapses (Fig4H-I ). Labelling on was absent on the presynaptic side or in axons (text p17258). |
