Annotated paper:Suzuki T, et al. "Excitable membranes and synaptic transmission: postsynaptic mechanisms. Localization of alpha-internexin in the postsynaptic density of the rat brain" Brain Res. 1997 Aug 8;765(1):74-80 PMID:9310396
Figure(s):Fig3, Fig6
Annotation description:Fig 3 shows that alpha-internexin concentrates in the PSD fraction upon cell fractionation of rat forebrain. This is verified by immuno-EM (DAB method) in Figure 6 where staining is only observed at the post-synaptic side, the presynaptic side remaining relatively clean. No quantification is offered. The authors comment "Immunoreactivity [of alpha-internexin) was clearly localized in the dendrites, spines and in most but not all PSDs (Fig. 6). Presynaptic structures were not stained. The specificity of the staining was confirmed by the lack of stainings with non-immune rabbit immunoglobulins (not shown)." p78
This seems also to hold in mouse brain, see additional reference.

Additional literature:Supplementary figure S2 panel h shows immuno-gold alpha-internexin label in the post-synapse in control mice (so different species then main ref), while the TKO (also lacking alpha-internexin) does not show any label as quantified in panel i. @ PMID:25869803
