Annotation description: | A new antibody (Y33) was raised against the C-terminal portion of mGluR3 which is distinct from mGluR2 in an effort to create an antobidy that was specific for only mGluR3. However slight cross-reactivity with mGluR2 was observed (see Fig. 1) so analysis was done in mGluR2 deficient mice (see FIg. 2). Sections of both wild-type and mGluR2 deficient mouse brain were images using EM using either the immunoperoxidase of immunogold methods. mGluR3 was observed in the plasma membrane of the extrasynaptic space on the presynaptic and postsynaptic side of the noted synapses (Fig. 8,11,12). However, small amounts were present in both the pre and post synaptic regions. 20/11/2017 Pim - Based on the known transmembrane topology of the protein, the "integral component of ... membrane" term was chosen. |
