Annotation description:Under the electron microscope, the immunolabelling of 5-HT7 was localized to cell bodies and dendrites (Fig. 6).
- Labeled cell bodies were found in the upper part of lamina III, but also in lamina II and to a lesser extent in lamina I. Staining was localized on different cytoplasmic organelles, such as rough endoplasmic reticulum and vesicles. In addition, the soma contained a number of immunoreactive large granular vesicles (Fig. 6A).
- In dendrites, the immunolabelling often covered a group of several centrally located neurotubules (Fig. 6B). When the dendrite was postsynaptic to axon terminals, the staining was often observed at the synaptic differentiation (Fig. 6C). Labeled dendrites have been found postsynaptic to small, unlabeled axon terminals having morphological features of 5-HT terminals. In dendrites plasma membrane labelling is always associated with postsynaptic densities.
