| Annotation description: | Fig5A-C: decrease of spines (esp mushroom type) and 5D-E mini-amplitude in DG-granule cell synapse of ARF4 heterozygous mice. This is selective for the DG, no effects are observed in CA1 (Fig4). Knockdown of ARF4 also results in a reduction of spine number in cultured neurons which can be reverted by re-expressing AFR4 (Fig9) and overexpression of (GTP-locked) ARF4 increses spine number (Fig8). Together these data suggest that ARF4 regulates the number of mature/mushroom spines. |
