Annotation description:Localisation in of NR2D in rod bipolar cells with immunostaining.

The close association of NR2D-immunoreactive dendrites (arrowheads) and axon terminals (arrows) with synaptophysin is visualized in panel 2G. The area enclosed by the dotted rectangle is enlarged in panel H, to show that axonal endings have an intense NR2D staining in their membrane and are themselves filled with synaptophysin.

Fig 3A) Volume rendering of a rod bipolar cell in a 12 μm section of a rabbit retina. By simulated fluorescence processing from a stack of 36 optical sections spaced by 0.5 μm, the three-dimensional architecture of the cell can be inferred with the shadows projected from a virtual light source. The image illustrates the different staining intensities of the dendrites in the OPL (arrowheads), the soma in the upper INL, the axon (arrows) and axon terminals in the IPL (open arrowheads).
