Annotation description:Authors use rat hippocampal slices to investigate the molecular signaling underlying postsynaptic plasticity. They performed electrophysiological recordings in the CA1 hippocampal region and found that overexpression of a constitutively active form of Ras, as well as CaMKII, leaded to a potentiation of the AMPAR-mediated transmission. In both cases, application of the MEK blocker PD98059, prevented the effect. By using electrophysiologically tagged receptors, authors showed that such potentiation is due to the delivery of AMPA receptors to synapses, which was prevented by the MEK inhibitor. Finally, authors showed that activation of Ras is required for LTP induction, a process that was also prevented by the use of the MEK inhibitor. Altogether the data suggests the involvement of MEK in AMPAR delivery required for LTP induction.

- I have trouble to understand the precise site of action that the authors claim for MEK. They measure the amount of AMPARs in the PSD after LTP induction which would justify the term 'regulation of neurotransmitter receptor localization to postsynaptic specialization membrane (GO:0098696)'. However, this term is implemented for proteins that are shown to regulate the anchoring of NTRs. The increased number of AMPARs described in this paper may very well be the increased insertion of the receptors into the plasma membrane (more NTRs) and unchanged anchoring properties of the PSD. I propose to annotate to the more high-level term.

- Final judgement: the term 'regulation of neurotransmitter receptor localization to postsynaptic specialization membrane (GO:0098696)' is no longer reserved for representing modified clustering properties of the PSD (https://github.com/geneontology/synapse/issues/95). This term was selected for these data.
