Annotation description:
In figure 5 the authors use cortical neurone generated from their intersection null mice. The neurone are transfected with synaptophlourin (SynpHlourin) and stimulated electrophysiologically to cause exocytosis of the SVs and enhanced SynpHlourin fluorescence. With termination of the stimulus, SV are reformed by endocytosis, causing quenching of the pHlourin signal and this is delayed in KO cultures.

Additional literature:
The authors inject an antibody (function blocking) into the pre synapse of reticulospinal neurons in lamprey. They stimulate the neurone for 20 min at 5 Hz causing exo/endocytic recycling of SVs. In the antibody injected neurons, the SV pool is depleted. @ PMID:20160082
