Annotation description: | In this reference paper, Jahn et al. investigate the distribution of synaptophysin by subcellular fractionation, immunoblotting and immunostaining of coronal sections of rat brain. Additionally, solubilization studies (with Triton X-114 phase separation) and controlled proteolysis of intact and solubilized synaptic vesicles reveal that synaptophysin is an integral vesicular protein. 2/9/2017 Pim - Based on the known transmembrane topology of the protein, the "integral component of ... membrane" term was chosen. |

Additional literature: | The data confirms the findings from the primary ref paper: by means of subcellular fractionation combined with immunoblotting and mass spectrometry, Takamori et al show that synaptophysin is the most abundant SV protein and that it's highly enriched in CPG-isolated SVs (Fig. 1B, Table 1 and Fig Suppl. 3) @ PMID:17110340 Fig. 9a-b shows images from immunoelectron microscopy of sections from murine cerebrum and rat synaptosomes: the labelling shows specific binding of anti-synaptophysin I antibody to presynaptic vesicles. @ PMID:3924408 |
