Annotated paper:Croce A, et al. "Opposite effects of alpha 1- and beta-adrenoceptor stimulation on both glutamate- and gamma-aminobutyric acid-mediated spontaneous transmission in cultured rat hippocampal neurons" J Neurosci Res. 2003 Feb 15;71(4):516-25 PMID:12548707
Figure(s):Fig.4
Annotation description:Application of noradrenaline to cultured hippocampal neurons induces a reduction in the frequency of miniature EPSCs (Fig 4). Application of the selective alpha1-agonist cirazoline also induced a reduction in the mEPSC frequency, but no change in mEPSC amplitude (Fig. 4d, f). These findings indicate that presynaptic G-Protein coupled Alpha1-adrenergic receptors modulate synaptic transmission upon activation.
